here lies a little girl

by Bilquisu Abdullah

i want to hold your hand

show you the way

out of darkness

the scars

still evident of harm that was caused

this harm clutches and clings.

clings to those moments

every birthday candle

bike pedal

giggle

within memories…..

linger

An eruption of sensory overload

a puddle of tears,

on splintered floors,

empty fridges,

nights filled,

with questions

of what the world

would be,

cruel like it has been?

or warm?

like the lives of those

i wish i could trade

my paralysis of life

little girl

i wish

i could be your breath

immediately after
