Short; not so Sweet

by Lauren Repella

When I was little, I thought what it’s like to be bubblegum.

To be exciting, so enticing: my first “hello” explosive.

Desired and filled with a sweet outlook.

When I grew older, you taught what it’s like to be bubblegum.

To be tolerant, so moderate: flavor taken with each chew.

Thrown to your place of convenience.

When did I become your temporary craving?

Or was that my purpose?
