B-Team Retreat: Community Poem

Last Sunday, members of the B-Team got together for the organization’s first retreat, and one of the activities we did was pass around a paper and have different members contribute stanzas or lines to a community poem. Here is our finished product! Shoutout to Creative Director Olivia Jimenez for the eloquent title and to Clara de Solages, Sebastian Bedoya, and Narisa Buranasiri for the accompanying artwork.

Did It Keep the Food Motif?

A bean of half. Divine lineage

This is good.

This is not as good.

White chocolate chip crumbles better than

dark chocolate

Raisins

deserve love—

that I cannot give.

They felt like crumbs

shoved under fridge

dreaming of the brief feeling

of being between finger and thumb

between finger and thumb

touch, a longing to be free of the

alienation, separation, isolation

to know my soul is not alone

to know your fingers and toes

long for mine

to imagine tracing your outline

with the edge

of a half eaten kit-kat.
