What's up boss babes?! I hope that you are all enjoying the closing weeks of the semester!! (please tell me I'm not the only one who thought it flew by.) Whether you're gearing up for Thanksgiving travels-n-turkey or preparing your body for cartons of Chinese food, let's all remember to be in the spirit of gratitude. I find that sometimes it's hard to be thankful and grateful because, in the world we live in, we always want more things, better things, cooler things, etc. *cue Satisfied from Hamilton*
By viewing life through the filter of gratitude, it forces us to remember that every little thing is a blessing. Getting an education is a blessing. Having a coat to keep you warm is a blessing. Being able to read this post on whatever high-tech device you have is a blessing. Don't let the spirit of discontentment rule your life. Here are some ways that you can incorporate gratitude into your everyday life:
Make a list of five things to be grateful for every morning.
Take time to genuinely thank people for the things they do for you, whether that is holding the door for you or delivering your Bulldog Tapingo order. Say thank you!
Do at least one selfless act per day (the more the better!)
Be mindful of your language. Complaining is a bad habit that can be broken by forcing yourself to change your default mindset to one of positivity (put on that gratitude filter!!)
Find reasons to be thankful for the not-so-great things in your life. Being grateful for the ups and downs of life can lead to a life full of joy and contentment.
It's definitely not groundbreaking to talk about gratitude right before Thanksgiving, but it's important to remember the reasons behind our yearly celebrations. Wishing you all lots of love and blessings.
